LA36’s mission is to support community building and promote learning through the development and distribution of innovative, high quality programming. We strive to create value to the Los Angeles Community by connecting education and cultural resources that meet local needs, and by making these resources broadly accessible within the city.
We continue to seek programming drawn from the broad areas of Education, Public Affairs, Culture and Performing Arts, Local Sports, and Children's Programming. Programs and proposals offered to LA36 for consideration should enhance and/or complement the current schedule of programs.
Producers should keep in mind the following when submitting a program for review as all proposals and programs will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
Does the program fit within LA36’s mission? Does it have a Los Angeles community focus?
Does it appeal to a large audience or only serve to promote a specific group, set of beliefs, or perspective?
Is the program innovative?
Is the program produced and presented in high quality manner? Does the program meet current broadcast quality standards?
Does the program follow LA36's Guide to Rules and Procedures ( click here to read )? Is it sponsored by an Educational Institution or Non-Profit with an educational mission?
We currently have specific programming needs in the areas of daily news, children’s education, local sports, and documentaries. Observational documentary proposals or programs should present interesting characters, be impactful and innovative in format, structure, and approach, and above all be journalistically sound.
We currently have a large library of programs in the areas of studio-based Talk Shows. As a result, we are reviewing very few programs or proposals in this area and are only interested in seeing proposals or programs that take the genre in new, innovative directions and tell unique, fresh stories. Any proposals or programs submitted in this subject area should have particularly compelling content and strong production values.
We accept the following formats for broadcast: DVC-Pro, DV/DV-CAM, and Beta SP. 3/4” is discouraged. We do not accept SVHS or VHS.
